Nisha Mahajan - Kathak & Yoga

Nisha MahajanPost - Graduate in Physics; exponent of Kathak; (Graduate from Kathak Kendra, New Delhi). Empanelled with ICCR; 'A' grade artiste of Delhi Doordarshan; Recipient of a Senior Fellowship from the Department of Culture to carry out research on the project "To Evolve a teaching methodology especially suited to teach children studying Kathak" from 01/12/1998 to 30/11/2000.

Conducting regular classes in Kathak under TYAAG; has a children's repertory; has choreographed items that deal especially with the world of children. Has used the integrated approach to teach Kathak to children involving Yoga, music, improvisation and trust games to ensure all round development of the child as an artiste. Has presented students on the stage regularly since 1992. The presentations have involved both the traditional repertoire as well as education related and value oriented themes. Worked as Yoga Instructor at Kathak Kendra, New Delhi (1986 to 1999)

Special Areas of Study : 1. Kathak as a Solo Art form; 2. Yoga and the performing artiste; 3. Tapping the full artistic potential of the child; 4. Stress management through yoga. 5. Therapy through Rhythm, Movement and Yoga. 6. Choreography in Kathak designed especially for children.

Rakesh Pathak

Hailing from a traditional family of musicians, Rakesh Pathak has imbibed Khayal - Gayaki from his father Pt. Shri Gangadhar Pathak. A soloist with several performances behind him at home and in the USA, Rakesh is passing on his art to the young students of TYAAG.
