Graduate from Delhi University.

Professional Career

Sangeeta Sharma has started her career as a student of renowned choreographer, Narendra Sharma at Bhoomika (1986) and had training in Indian contemporary dance. She also has training from Bharat Sharma. Presently she is the principal dancer and senior Ballet Master of Bhoomika's professional Dance Company and a teacher at Bhoomika School of Choreographer. She gives regular performance with Bhoomika troupe including on tours in India and abroad.

Individual Achievement

She has independently choreographed and presented her work at Bhoomika's Young Choreographer's Festival (1990-1993) Sahitya Kala Parishad (1992) Bhoomika Studio (1994-1995), India International Centre (1996) and Sriram Centre (1997).

Major Achievement

She was invited by Sangeet Natak Academy to participate as a young choreographer in the National Festival of Choreographic Works, jointly organized by the Academy and Government of Karnataka in Bangalore (March 1997), she was selected by the Department of Culture, Govt. of India to choreograph a new production during Golden Jubilee Celebration of Indian Independence. She choreographed "Prithvi Ke Grabh Mei" on July 6, 1998.

ICCR Empanelled

Indian Council for Cultural Relations presented her in their Horizon series in Tagore Hall on Feb 19, 1999.

International Workshop

She was invited by the American Dance Festival (A.D.F.) 1993, where she learned modern dance techniques & compositions under Betty Jones and Martha Mayers.

National Workshop

She was invited by Kumudini Lakhia to do a workshop with their dancers at Kadamb, Ahmedabad. During summer for three years. She experimented with village school children in dance with their limited sources in Andretta Himachal Pradesh.

Fellowship

She was the recipient of junior fellowship of Department of Culture, Govt. of India (1996)

Choreography with University Students

Her choreographic work for college of Business Studies Dwand (1997), Agnishikha (1998), Nirjhar Dhara (2000) were adjudged best works in Inter-College competition "Crescendo" which were selected by ICCR for their Annual International Students Festival "Friendship through Culture" held in Nov. 1997, 1998, 1999.
