UMA GOVIND is naturally endowed and with a solid training in Bharata Natyam under the supervision of Smt. Guru V.Mydhili, UMA continues her journey with her chosen medium of expression trying to explore the inner meaning and happiness from performing and experimenting with her first love, dance.

Each performance is a learning experience for UMA, filling with a sense of euphoria, because dance for her is a celebration of life. Her impressive stage presence and beautiful movements have been appreciated by people who are highly musical.

Uma has presented more than 150 performances till date and have learned about 80 compositions under her teacher Guru V. Mydhili and continues to add more to her repertoire.

Some of the notable performances in which she participated are include:

• Doordarshan- “Nirttamandapam” (2009)
• Performance at ‘NAVARATHRI DANCE AND MUSIC FESTIVAL’- (2009), Panachikkad Dakshina Mookambika Temple.
• Part of the Bharatanatyam Dance Drama ‘KALPATHARU’ (2009) a production of Midhilalaya Dance Academy .
• ONAGHOSHAM [Nishagandhi Open air Auditorium] -2002, 2003, 2008 and 2009 conducted by Kerala Tourism.
• Bharatanatyam recital at Vyloppilly Sanskriti Bhavan. (1 March 2008).
• SOORYA FESTIVAL –2007, 2008, 2009. “Ramayanotsav”.
• SOORYA FESTIVAL – 2007 - closing ceremony.
• MYDHILA FEST- 2006, 2009.
• CHIDAMBARAM DANCE FESTIVAL - 2004.
• NAVARATRI FESTIVAL at Navaratrimandapam- 2002, 2003, 2004, 2007 and 2008.
• Performance at GURUVAYOOR TEMPLE- 2002 and 2003.

Though she is proficient in academics, as a graduate student in Physics, she is committed to Bharata Natyam as a life time pursuit.
